Thread Chasing Units will engage threads and cut through small blockages,
like weld spatter or lodged chips or burrs. If the size or location
of the blockage is such that the existing thread can not be picked
up without the risk of cutting a secondary (out of phase) thread,
the spindle will automatically stop advancing and signal a reject.
The Thread Chasing Unit is designed to enter the thread at a torque
up to 10 ft/lbs, and reverse out at torque levels a couple times
higher than this. The torque of each TCU will be individually set
according to thread size, and is field adjustable.
