Fixtured
parts get cleaner and dryer than non-fixtured parts. The key to well-designed
fixturing is secure part holding that has a slim profile that won’t
block the action or catch debris. The top picture shows a robot loaded
and unloaded application where a spring-loaded finger retains the
part.
Once the fixture is built, wash and blow off nozzles are then
positioned to optimally clean and dry the part (see bottom left
- part removed). Once these positions are extensively tested and
proven, nozzles are locked in place, preventing operator adjustment
that will deteriorate the effectiveness of the cleaning or drying.
For part changeovers, the entire nozzle manifolds are swapped out.
The bottom right picture shows the manifolds for four varied parts.
